FAQs

1 / Do I need to bring anything with me?

For most classes everything you need will be provided including all patterns and fabrics. For some classes there will be the option to bring your own fabrics if you have something in your stash that you want to use. For the upcycling and alterations classes you will be asked to bring something to upcycle or alter but this will be made clear in the class info so please check that before booking.

2 / Is your Studio accessible for people with disabilities?

There is a small lip on coming through the front door but the rest of the Studio is all on one level with a large and easily accessible toilet. There will be the option to use the computerisation on the sewing machines if you find that using the foot pedal is too much for you. We strive to keep our Studio a relaxed and calm space so there won't be any loud music and students are welcome to bring their own heaphones for the personal working time between instructions. We would love to encourage conversation and community but understand that this can be overwhelming for some people.

If you have any other needs that we should be aware of, please do let us know during booking.

3 / Why do you need my clothing size?

During booking you will be asked for your approximate clothing size. This is purely for our preparation purposes so that we get the right amount of fabrics and patterns and only tutors will see this.

During classes we will be more focused on choosing patterns with correct measurements rather than going by size as some of the patterns we will be using will use American or Eurpoean sizes which are quite different to UK sizes.

4 / What happens if I don't finish my project during class?

We hope that the class will allow enough time for most people to finish while in our studio but we understand that things happen that can delay finishing things off.

There will be a couple of options if you don't finish however. If you're feeling confident you are very welcome to take your piece home and finish it there (we will provide some written instructions if that would help). If you'd like to finish the project with our guidance then there will be an option to book in at one of our drop in Studio sessions with our tutors there to offer help.

5 / Can I get a refund if I can't make my class?

We can only offer refunds if you let us know you can't attend with more than 48 hours before your class is due to start. However we do understand that unexpected things happen so please do get in touch with us and we may be able to offer you the equivalent credit for another class.

6 / Can I buy equipment if I like using it during class?

Yes, we will have a small stock of the basic items such as pins, needles and threads etc. If you wish to buy the larger items, such as scissors, that you used during your class we can take orders for you to pick up at a later date.

7 / Who are the classes for?

Anyone! Everyone is welcome here: people of every gender, colour, size, shape and age (although we do recommend students being over the age of 12 initially - we will hopefully be doing some fun family craft sessions at some point!)

8 / Do you only teach sewing?

No, we will be doing lots of different sewing classes and crafting workshops - from an introduction to tatting, to kimekomi baubles at Christmas time. We hope there will be lots of fun new hobbies that you can add to your collection.

9 / Can I rent your Studio to teach my own classes?

Although we have sorted our timetable up until Christmas it is something that we would be open to in the future. If this is something you feel you would like to do then please do drop us an email at bloomingbobbinsinfo@gmail.com
